FAQs

  • Treatments take place fully clothed so you will need to come prepared in loose, comfortable clothing. Joggers and a t shirt are ideal.

  • There is no pressure or expectation to chat, in fact treatments are best enjoyed quietly. There will be gentle background music playing throughout and time to talk both prior to and after the treatment.

  • Shiatsu is a gentle, non-invasive therapy. I am happy to see you prior to the 12 week mark, however this is very much a personal decision and must be made based on your own comfort levels.

  • We will begin with a brief discussion of health history/current issues. Treatments take place at floor level on a padded futon and last around 45 minutes. During this time it is recommended you enjoy the treatment quietly, with eyes closed if you feel comfortable to do so.

At the end of the session I will cover you with a warm blanket and allow a few minutes of quiet while I write notes and you continue to relax.

There will be time to discuss any issues raised, should you wish to.

I recommend you stay well hydrated and ease slowly back into the rest of your day following a treatment.

  • Please let me know if you are uncomfortable with any aspect of the session. You might need to shift your position, use the bathroom, ask me to avoid your ticklish feet…any and all of these are fine. The best treatment is one that supports relaxation for you, don’t feel embarrassed to speak up!

  • Shiatsu is a tool that can support your continued wellbeing. If you would like to book a block of sessions please feel free to ask about multi-session discounts.
